Today am making venison stew and one of the reasons why I wanted to show you this venison stew recipe is because a lot of you have asked what to do when your husband brings home an elk or a deer and you’ve got all this wild game at home. What do you do with it? I’m going to show you how to make an easy venison stew recipe and it tastes delicious!
- So am starting as I mentioned I’ve got venison here, am going to start by putting my venison in the slow cooker. Now if you want to you can put a little bit of olive oil in a skillet and brown that up or steer it a little bit. If you’d like you can even cut it into smaller pieces bite-sized chunks if that is your preference but I’m just gonna but that in the slow cooker for now. I’ve got some celery here, about half and onion chopped up just to give it some nice flavor here.
- Now I’ve got a mixture of dried herbs, I’ve got some parsley, some oregano, I’ve got some fresh parsley also and I’ve got garlic. Always love to have garlic in my stew. It gives a nice flavor and then I’ve got one can of tomato sauce so this is going to give it a nice flavor base, nice tomato a broth and then I’m going to put 3 cups of water.
- Now finally I’m going to end with my secret ingredient here! This is Johnie’s French dip as you and it’s a powder. We just sprinkle it in here in the stew, it gives it a nice beefy flavor, a nice flavor profile and we just mix that up and we’re gonna slow cook it on low for about 7 hours and we’ll come back and we’ll have a beautiful nice venison stew recipe
My venison stew is done! It smells so good, it looks delicious too, you can smell that nice beefy flavor from the Johnnies, it just looks wonderful and I cannot wait to taste it. Go on, try it out!
